Purring Lotus was founded in 2025 by a husband-and-wife team who share a lifelong love of nature and tea. After many years in the UK, we moved to Hong Kong and found ourselves close to the mountains and valleys of China’s most celebrated tea regions. That proximity gave us a unique opportunity: to source teas directly from the farmers who craft them, and to share these harvests with friends around the world.

Our name carries our story. The purring reflects our love for cats, companions whose calm presence and quiet joy remind us to slow down. The lotus symbolizes purity and tranquility in Chinese culture, qualities we hope every cup of our tea can bring. Together, they capture what Purring Lotus stands for: comfort, calm, and connection through the simple act of drinking tea.

We choose teas that are perfect to be enjoyed for the season, guided in part by traditional Chinese ideas of balance and rhythm. Some teas are meant to be enjoyed young, others to be rested and returned to.

Our philosophy is rooted in four values: quality, sustainability, honesty, and sharing. By following these principles, we aim to respect the land, celebrate the work of growers, and offer you teas that are true to their origins.
